The most depressing shot in the movie is the old lady in the waiting room of the doctor's office waiting to have her memories erased, crying and clutching a bag of dog toys. I refuse to believe-- no matter how painful losing that dog is for her-- that there isn't good in having years of beautiful memories with the dog in the first place.
